Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
But did you know the Military veterans are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) than their civilian counterparts? According to the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, "Veterans report higher rates of certain cardiovascular disease (CVD) conditions and report a higher number of CVD conditions than nonveterans. Veterans also reported higher numbers of CVD conditions at younger ages (ages 25 to 70 years) than nonveteran counterparts."
My husband, Will, spent over two decades in the Marines. To honor his service, the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps and to celebrate Veterans Day, I have made it my goal to raise $250 (one dollar for each year of the USMC) for the American Heart Association. Will you help me reach my goal?
