I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives.
As some of you know my mom has had two open heart surgeries since 2018. When my mom first started having heart issues, we were concerned that she had the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) gene that runs in our family. Luckily, my mom tested negative for the gene, however she still was diagnosed with HCM. What does that mean? Essentially, her heart muscle thickened which caused her blood to push through like a pressure washer instead of a water hose (that's doctor talk!). The pressure in the heart then damaged her heart valves.
It's very scary to think that without the research that the American Heart Association has done over the last 100 years, there might not have been a solution for my mom's HCM. For that reason, I have chosen again this year to raise funds for the American Heart Association. A small donation can make a large impact & it is an impact that effects us all.
Bless Your Heart,
Bailey
