I walk because in the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds. I know that with every step, I'm making a difference in someone's life. When combined with a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, we have an even greater impact toward curing heart disease and stroke. Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me?
Eight years ago on October 16th my life completely changed. I suffered a massive heart attack and was 100% blocked in my right coronary artery. To save my life, I received a stent. Two days later I had triple bypass surgery to fix other blockages. I didn't let it define me or destroy me, instead I let it strengthen me. Who am I today? I'm a survivor, and I am extremely grateful for every day God grants me life.
In my lifetime almost 20 of my family members have passed, including my mom, who suffered from heart disease and stroke. Besides me there are a few survivors in my family including five cousins and my dad.
This year I am walking in honor of my dear friends, Brenda and Patsy, who are unable to attend. They are my heart sisters who both suffered serious heart issues in 2025. Their strength and spirit inspire me, and I'm proud to walk on their behalf.
It has taken you over 40 seconds to read this, which means someone had a heart attack. Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
