My father died of a heart attack at 68: healthy, not overweight, not a drinker. Just felt horrible heartburn, but he was gone in 15 minutes before he could reach the hospital. My brother had bypass surgery to open 4 values and survived. My cousin also had multiple bypass surgery and survived.

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
