My life has been affected by cardiovascular disease in a big way. Both of my grandfathers, my father, my uncle, and several distant relatives have all had CABGs (aka open heart surgery), my uncle recently had a MI requiring multiple stents, my grandfather and other family members have had MIs with stents, and most of my family is on some type of blood pressure medication. I’ve have numerous family members (my grandmother most recently a few years ago) have had pacemakers, and there are probably some more that I can’t think of at the moment.
Not to mention I work with cardiovascular and stroke patients on a daily basis as an ICU pharmacist with most of my time working on the cardiac unit.
There have been so advances with help of the AHA that participating and fundraising for the Heart Walk every year is the least I can do to give back. I’ve made my donation and hope you will consider donating too!
