I walk because heart disease has effected my immediate family. My dad has a stent in his heart that was blocked 98% (RCA) at the time. He had no complications because he went in at he onset of chest discomfort.
My father-in-law had a massive heart attack in October of 2018. He was on his way home from work. He was about 2 miles from home. He wrecked and ended up in a field. He did not get the help he needed right away. They got him out and started CPR. He cardiac arrested due to one of his major arteries (LAD) being 100% blocked. He went to the cath lab and then to CICU for extensive life saving efforts. Dispite the effort he has major neuro deficits. Early defibrillation is the key to successful management of several irregular heart rhythms. I went to work in the CICU just a few months after this happened. I watched over about 4 years of the effects of numerous patients dieing from untreated and treated heart disease. I raise money to help fight. Fight the disease. Fight to talk to anyone who will listen. Take the time to know what the fundraising does on a daily bases for the community and the world.
