Help me be a Heart Walk Hero!
In 2019, I was running in a 5K when I began to have chest pain and a strange numbing in my jaw. I decided to walk it off and ignore it. It was only a few days later that it came back and I found myself in the hospital receiving a heart stent. I was totally unaware of the blockage and hadn't experienced any prior issues. It was so scary, but I was blessed to have caught it in time and embarrassed that I ignored it, just hoping it would go away.
In 2020, my father underwent quadruple bypass surgery. We weren't able to visit due to Covid restrictions which was tough on all of us. He had recovered well and, again, glad that it was caught and treated.
I walk for myself, I walk for my dad, and I walk to raise awareness. It makes me so happy to raise funds for this organization knowing that those funds fuel research that could cure heart disease and strokes.
