I've been walking over the years for my husband who I lost in 2019 due to sudden cardiac arrest. He is missed and loved, and I will continue to fight for better health outcomes in my community in his memory.
This year, I'm also walking alongside the rest of Kayla's Crew for Kayla Fox, a leader and friend I lost in 2023. Kayla started as a Heart Walk director before moving into the Executive Director role at AHA. She loved the Heart Walk event because it was a way for us to reach the masses with lifesaving educational opportunities and raise funds for research, all while getting together and having fun as a community. This year will be different without her, but her crew will carry on and make this the best Heart Walk year ever. I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives and honoring the lives of those I've loved and lost.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Will you help me?
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Association, we will move health and well-being forward in important and critical ways. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
