Life is Why! Join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
I’m not just walking. I’m Heartwalking because I walk for my dad and uncle both of whom have been affected by heart disease. I remember vividly the day I was called home from work because my dad had fallen and spent the night in the living room. My cousins had gone to take him to breakfast as part of his daily routine and found him on the floor. They weren't sure what was wrong but they did know we had to do something. I knew to ask all of the right questions from school, but not everyone does. I also knew that our options for treatment would be limited since we would not be able to pinpoint when he had the stroke (which I accurately assumed he had). I insisted on taking him to the hospital, which if you know my dad this was a hard sell! I am lucky as my dad did survive his stroke, but he is physically limited as a result.
I participate in the Heart Walk to promote education not only for prevention but also on how to react to stroke and other heart diseases. Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020, because that is just one of the current goals of the AHA. Please help me reach this lifesaving goal by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
