I walk for my girls and their futures. Approximately 40% of heart disease is hereditary, and I know it runs in my family. So in addition to my love of good music and travel and sunsets, and of course, my smarts and great sense of humor, I have probably passed on to my daughters genes that predispose them to cardiovascular disease.
Heart disease is the number 1 killer of Americans. Who doesn't have a coworker, friend, family member who has been impacted by heart disease? I walk because I know that with every step, I’m making a difference in someone’s life. Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me? Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
This year is a very special year for the Midlands Heart Walk. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary walk (and MY 25th walk) during the centennial year of the American Heart Association. I am so honored to be co-chairing this walk with 5 amazing people who have as much passion for the work of AHA as I do. Our official goal is to raise $700,000, but I believe we can raise $1 million -- for my children's future and yours. Can we count on you to help?
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
