Original Story: In 2016, I was diagnosed with Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia (IST). This is considered a heart arrhythmia which currently has no cure.
As a "normal" person, if you go run around outside or do an intense workout, your heart rate will naturally go up. And if you push yourself hard enough, you will eventually feel tired, dizzy, and like you need a break to catch your breath. That's how IST makes me feel, except I don't have to work out or run around or do much of anything to feel it. My heart always beats too fast. Even just sitting still.
The symptoms I experience are triggered by heat, even the slightest physical exertion, and changes in altitude (like standing up too fast, for example). Needless to say, I'm going to have to train over the next few months to be able to participate in the Heart Walk myself.
I want to walk this year to raise awareness for heart conditions in general and to raise funds that will contribute to research and ultimately, cures. My hope is that one day, IST will have a cure! Most importantly, I want to walk & share my journey to show how God is working in my life and so that my faith may be an inspiration to you.
How can you help? Pray for me and everyone participating in the Heart Walk; Donate if you can; Come walk with us!
