I come from a long line of heart disease on my mom's side. In fact, my mother is the only survivor of the 5 in her family. Her parents and younger brother all died before they were 60 and her sister had a major heart attack on the golf course at the age of 38. My aunt survived but had to have quadruple bypass heart surgery in 1988. She lived another 17 years but eventually succombed to heart failure. She truly needed a heart transplant but that never happened.
I am serving on the Executive Leadership Team for the Heart Walk this year because I want to be a part of helping to keep making strides in battling heart disease.
