Peyton and Isabel are Why! Join me in supporting the American Heart Association and honoring my daughters, Peyton Riley and Isabel Ally-Grey.
Peyton and Isabel have both been diagnosed with congenital heart defects.
Peyton was born with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), a congenital heart condition that produced two holes in her heart. When she was three years old, an echocardiogram showed the holes had closed, but we were faced with a new condition, Left Ventricular Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy (LVNC), which affects the lower left chamber of the heart.
Trending to be like her sister, Isabel was also born with VSD. By the time she was 6-months old, the hole in the lower chamber of her heart had closed, but a newly discovered hole in the upper chamber had increased in size. Isabel has also been diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a birth defect that causes a hole in the wall between the heart's upper chambers and may require surgical correction in the future.
In honor of my girls, I walk (or RUN). I walk for other children who have experienced one, two, three and sometimes more surgical procedures. I walk for those families who have been devastated by heart disease and I walk for those who can no longer walk for themselves.
I am not just walking, I am HEARTWALKING! Help me join in the fight against heart disease by making your donation today and/or joining my family as we walk on Saturday, April 25.
