The self portrait above by Andi Claire, age 6, is how she sees herself, a superhero....notice the cape! She is part of a group of MUSC Pediatric Survivors called "Little Hearts!" She was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and had her first open heart surgery at 5 days old.
After some time in the hospital, she went home but returned to MUSC for a second open heart surgery. We auctioned her self-portrait last Friday at the Maritime Association Annual Gala and raised $6,300 for the 2022 Lowcountry Heart Walk.
Dear friends of ours that live in Anderson, SC have a beautiful daughter in this special group of children that were born with heart defects. She is a miracle. It was very unlikely that she would survive but due to the amazing advances in technology and the grace of God, she is thriving today! Her parents are amazing people and they love on her daily.
