In 2022, heart disease hit home at UNC Hillsborough. Harper Grace, daughter of UNC employees Erica and Kendall Gales, went into cardiac arrest on March 18th when she was only 3 weeks old. Because of live-saving CPR provided in her home, by local emergency response teams and UNC staff, Harper Grace is alive today. On September 7 of that same year, a 2-month-old boy named Mason (pictured here) also required CPR in his home after a medical emergency. Tragically, he passed away 6 days later but became Harper's brave heart transplant donor.
