Heart disease is the leading cause of death for all genders in the United States—it ends a life every 36 seconds! In addition to mortality, heart disease costs the US approximately $363 billion annually in medical resources and lost productivity.
Before the American Heart Association existed, the prognosis for a person with heart disease was bleak—bedbound or death. Over the last century, we have made tremendous progress in advancing diagnostic tools, treatment algorithms, therapies, education, and awareness initiatives, and more. The evolution has been extraordinary, but there is still lots of work to be done!
Unfortunately, I know all too well the consequences of heart disease. My Dad had his first heart attack in his 40s, his second when he was 53, and died at 56 years old; my grandma had severe atrial fibrillation and required a pacemaker to be placed in her 60s; my stepdad died from sudden cardiac arrest when he was 63, and I have numerous loved ones who live with hypertension or other chronic health conditions that make them more susceptible to having a cardiac event.
Please consider joining my Heart Walk team to help me save lives and support efforts to make even more medical advancements throughout the next century! Together we can help create sustainable changes for a more equitable world that supports ALL people living longer, healthier lives! More research, more education, more impact in local communities! We have the power to improve the environment for our grandparents, parents, ourselves, and most importantly, our children and future generations!
Please join my team and walk with me on Saturday, November 5, 2022! If you can’t participate in the walk, please consider financially supporting our team by helping us reach our fundraising goal.
Thank you so much for your consideration! I wish you and your loved ones abundant health and happiness!!
With Heart,
Courtney
