My father died of a heart condition, my grandfather also. I also have a heart condition that I monitor in additon to being the recipient of genetically high cholesterol and elevated blood pressure. Did I mention I weigh 160lbs and have been an avid, cyclist, runner and gym rat for 35 years. My point is cardiovascular issues can happen to anyone at any time.
This is my 8th year participating in Heart Walk but this year I have decided to try something different and extend my walk to another continent and 19,341 up. In August I will travel to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (The highest Mountain in Africa) to scratch off a bucket list adventure while at the same time, promoting CV health and movement. I have often believed that only one panacea exists when it comes to CV health and that is movement and exercise.
Please support me as I make my way up the mountain and also at Heart Walk in December
Remember cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
