I am a mother of four, but I walk for two. My two youngest children were both diagnosed with CHD in the womb. Coarctation of the Aorta. A diagnosis that currently doesn't have a "genetic component." We were shocked to learn our youngest child suffered the same diagnosis as his sister, as was our Cardiologist and just about every nurse or doctor we met with afterwards.
Both of our children received open heart surgery in order to repair the narrowing. Both survived. So I walk for them. I walk for their future and the future of all CHD survivors.
