I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Will you help me?
My dad, Michael Turnbough, is a survivor of heart disease. He was 45 years old when sharp chest pain and shortness of breath when lifting turned into him being rushed to the hospital. His LAD was 99% blocked, and if he would have waited any longer to go to the hospital, he would not be here today. He is a proud survivor of heart disease, and encourages my family to regularly check our blood pressure, and maintain happy and healthy lifestyles with good diets and exercise.
Did you know Alabama has one of the most widespread heart disease problems in the country, remaining above the 4th highest heart disease death rate. Birmingham is known as a food dessert, meaning parts of our city have very low access to healthy foods with good nutritional value.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives. Your donation funds the American Heart Association to be able to train people on what to do as a bystander if someone is having a heart attack or stroke, and help healthier foods become easier to access.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
