What a great way for you to join me in helping to help improve heart health and save a life. Your donation means a great deal to people you know in our community and throughout the nation. We've all been impacted and I that you join me as we work together to improve heart health and lessen the impacts of heart disease and stroke. I'd also like you to consider joining in this year's walk with your own team or simply join mine!
I originally became involved in this great event and walked in memory of my two grandfathers. Each died of heart disease. One passed at the age of 54 (I never got to know him) and one at age 72. My dad, Bert, came to visit us this year and was experiencing classic signs of heart trouble. Because of the AHA education I have received through the years, I was able to "encourage" him to immediately see his cardiologist. The result...an 87yr old father that is still alive after undergoing a simply angiogram that immediately identified blockages and fixed him up just fine! As I enter my prime "Grandpa John" years, I want to enjoy my time with grandchildren and I can because of the advancements made regarding heart healthly choices and care. I do have hypertension (High BP) and medications, monitoring, and healthcare protocols have been improved because of the AHA and all they do. Many friends, colleagues, family, and I have benefitted from the increased number of AED's, new CPR procedures, Education and Stroke identification protocol. It is personal...I walk for my family!
However, I am also going to walk for two of my long-time friends:
Jaimes Warman passed of a heart attack on Dec 10, 2020 after having been released from the hospital for covid-19 3 weeks earlier and seeing his physician on Dec 9th. A big loss to me personally and to our Huntsville Community.
Jerry Rufe was a stellar example to me and faithful man of Christ. He passed away on the 14th of March, 2021 as a result of a stroke suffered several days earlier. Jerry was a long-time employee-owner and corporate vice president of APT Research. However, he was a dedicated friend, mentor, technical expert, whose priorities were God and family. He was 54 years old and left this life too soon!
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
