Why We Walk
2022 Greater Atlanta Heart Walk
Everyone knows that my mother was the light of my world. My mother suffered her first heart attack in 2004, at which time she had been told that she was walking around for two weeks having little heart attacks and she that she just had gas. In January 2018 my mother suffered her second heart, unfortunately this time her heart disease had gotten so bad she was forced to have a Quadruple bypass. The surgery was suppose to give us about 10 additional years with my mother but on November 15, 2020 I lost my mother to her third heart attack.
I tell my story because I don’t want another child, a grandchild, a sister, a brother, a niece, a nephew, a friend to experience the pain of saying goodbye to a love one to this disease.
Heart disease is still the no. 1 killer in our nation and stroke ranks no. 2 worldwide. You could do something to change that.
We are walking together - not only for our own health, but also for yours. And for the health of our parents, our children, and our grandchildren.
The Heart Walk is a time of celebration, joy, and inspiration. It's also an event where people work together to support one single goal - to create a world free of heart disease and stroke.
Be a heart hero. Be a relentless force. Be a part of an unstoppable team. Join us now and together we will help save lives.
