2023 Sumter Clarendon Heart Walk

As many of you know, the American Heart Association is near and dear to my heart. I try every year to do the heart walk which is a 5K, and drag whomever along that I can.
On February 2, 2001, my dad had a massive heart attack. It's the hardest thing in the world to not only be far away when your family is suffering and in pain, but also watch your hero - the man you always thought was invincible - go through something so scary. I flew out on the Red Eye to get home to be with my family. He was in ICU and not doing well. They read him last rites and we all tried to accept what may come. It was not easy. Ten years after my dad's heart attack, he passed away at the tender age of 55 years old. I miss him every day.
More recently the AHA means even more to our family. In addition to heart health, the American Heart Association also supports stroke victims. On February 10th, 2020 we had a dear family member suffer a massive stroke. Three years later he is still feeling the effects of it, and it has taken a toll on his wife, children and grandchildren.
On May 13th, there is a 5k planned for the AHA for heart and stroke victims and survivors. Myself and my family will be walking in support of those loved and lost, and those still fighting. Please consider walking with us, donating to the American Heart Association or both. Thank you in advance. God Bless.
