We Walk to Make Life Better & Honor Someone Who Did
In May, many of us suffered a devastating loss that gets to the heart of why we'll walk Nov. 23 as Team Regions.
At the age of 35, heart disease claimed the life of Roshana Gossoff, my teammate on the Corporate Communications Consumer Banking partner comms team and a beloved associate to many.
She'd only been with us since March 2023 but left the legacy of a longtime veteran. That's because of her unique gift for building relationships through her care and love for others.
Roshana and I were both caregivers for older family members, and one day I shared how hard it was to watch dementia's toll.
A few days later, I heard the delivery truck outside and found a box on the porch. Inside was my own Cuban coffee maker and a personal note of encouragement from her reminding me to take care of myself by pausing to enjoy a cafecito. Many others can share similar stories.

This year’s Heart Walk is around the same Florida International University campus where Roshana earned bachelor and master's degrees and helped students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures follow in her career footsteps. She did that in a host of ways including through her service with FIU’s William C. Adams chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Even more importantly, your Heart Walk participation with Team Regions will increase awareness about the risk factors and warning signs of heart disease and fund research to save lives. This year's walk will particularly highlight the importance of Hands-Only CPR. 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of the hospital will die in part because many people around them don’t know how to perform Hands-Only CPR and respond to emergencies.
At Regions, our mission is to make lives better. I can't think of another associate who lived that out quite like Roshana -- a huge fan of ABBA whose music was part of her life’s soundtrack, including her wedding to Arturo.
