As many of you know, I suffered a heart attack in 2023 at the ripe old age of 54. I feel very lucky because heart disease is the number one killer of women. Women also present different symptoms that men do.
This year, Ricky and I are walking in the AHA Heartwalk in Birmingham. I'm walking not only for my self, but to honor my Daddy who is a heart patient, my Uncle Ted who died at 44 of a heart attack, and my cousin Teddy who died at 43 from a heart attack.
I've picked $540 dollars as my personal goal -- $10 for every year old I was. Help me get there! And if you'd like to join my team and come walk with Ricky and me on Saturday, March 8, just message me and I'll get you all set up.
Now from the AHA:
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today by joining our team or donating towards our goal. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
