Why I’m Walking — And Why I’m Asking for Your Support
This cause is deeply personal to me. I’m a heart attack survivor and this year, I’ll be walking in honor of my beloved brother Brandon and my grandfather, both of whom I carry in my heart every step of the way. Their memory fuels my commitment to raising awareness and supporting life-saving research and programs.
We’ve all been touched in some way by heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, or obesity—whether directly or through someone we love. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
Please consider joining THE BEAT IT TEAM or making a donation. Your support helps fund critical research and medical breakthroughs that save lives—breakthroughs like pacemakers, cardiac stents, and artificial heart valves. Past donations have made those possible. Future donations will help save even more lives, just like mine.
This walk isn’t just about fitness. It’s about fighting heart disease and stroke, supporting survivors, and honoring the lives we've lost. Whether you're walking in memory of someone, celebrating your own health journey, or simply showing support because you belong here.
Let’s walk with purpose.
Let’s walk with heart.
Let’s build a healthier future together.
With love and gratitude,
Marquis
DID YOU KNOW....
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today by joining our team or donating towards our goal. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
