It's safe to say that almost everyone will be affected by heart disease in their lifetime, whether by their own journey or the journey of a family member or friend. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States per the National Center for Health Statistics.
Heart disease has a profound effect on the entire body, which is why heart health is extremely important. It is also tremendously important to know and be comfortable with CPR as you could save a life. I already knew this to be true from my own training, but I have also seen this firsthand through working in the ICU at The Ohio State University. Even if it is just hands only, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out of hospital cardiac arrest per the AHA.
I have joined the 2023 Central Ohio Heart Walk with The Ohio State University to help raise awareness and funding. I decided to join the "Cutie Prolongations" group because of the play on words (the QT interval is a measurement used to assess the electrical properties of the heart). Donations towards my personal (and team) goal can be made via https://www2.heart.org/site/TR/HeartWalk/MWA-MidWestAffiliate?px26416712&pgpersonal&fr_id8963
Thanks in advance ya'll!!!
