I am walking for my grandmother (“GiGi”) and for my father (“Pap”). Both of whom were taken too quickly without a chance for us to bid them farewell. Grandma died of a witnessed sudden cardiac arrest which at least gave some family an opportunity to get to the hospital, but that was not the case for Dad. There is nothing that prepares you for the sudden loss of a loved one like that. So for that I will walk. I will raise funds to try to increase awareness and research efforts to support medicine to protect your loved ones and their loved ones for generations to come.
I am walking for my patients. For the countless people who I have taken under my care after they’ve suffered an acute stroke. For their families who are in shock as they watch their new stories unfold- witnessing the beauty of the human brain and how perfectly it can work, and how instantly that can all change. I will raise funds to continue the efforts I watch every single day of our research team as they try to solve how to save brain tissue in a medical emergency.
