On October 8th, 1976, my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins were spending the weekend helping my grandparent’s paint the outside of their house. It was a great family event! Later that night, we received a phone call that my uncle Dorwin, age 48, was a victim of sudden cardiac death in his home. He was a very special uncle in so many ways! He loved life and knew and helped so many people. He was an active member of his Church, an Army Veteran, Chief of the local Fire Department, a by trade he worked as a plumber, electrician and did heating and air conditioning. Uncle Dorwin helped develop my interest and focus on helping teach and care for patients with cardiac disease. During my career as a nurse, I have enjoyed caring for Cardiac Patients and those needing Cardiac Surgery. I am an American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Instructor and as a CNS, I have had many opportunities to help patients and staff in the ED, ICU’s and Cardiac Cath Lab focus on the needs and care of cardiac patients.
I would like to invite you to join my TEAM: “Methodist Nurses and Friends of Nursing Set the Pace” as we sprint together to the “FINISH LINE” on October 31st, 2024!. Come join us at the Heart Walk on 9/14/2024, from 9 am - 11 am at Lake County Fair Grounds. Every dollar that is donated counts.
I hope you will join me in protecting the hearts of those we love – children, grandchildren, extended family, colleagues, co-workers and friends!
