Heart disease has always been more than just a medical condition for my family; it's part of our story. And I've seen firsthand how it can change the course of a day, a year, a lifetime.
My grandfather was a strong and confident man. In his lifetime, he had two strokes, which restricted him to a wheelchair, and a pacemaker implanted to regulate his heart. With his strength and spirit stolen, an impact was made on all of us.
My grandmother's battle was different. After finding blockages in her arteries and going for multiple angiograms, we found out she needed open-heart surgery. A lengthy and daunting procedure. After which, the road to recovery was long and difficult.
Watching my grandparents go through these challenges was tough. It made me aware of how fragile life can be, how quickly things can change.
Recently, I was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia, a condition where my heart beats faster than normal. Though I am on medication to slow down my heart rate and manage my condition, this was a wake up call. Medication is just the first step in what I know will be a lifelong journey of managing my heart health.
But beyond our personal experiences, there is a larger fight against heart disease that needs our attention! That's why I'm asking for your support.
