I had a minor heart attack (an NSTEMI) in early 2022 that I ended up managing at home because a healthcare worker to whom I told my symptoms said it didn't sound like I needed to visit the ED where we used to work together. It still shows up in my routine ECGs, and I am still dealing with the aftereffects, even though I have done a great deal to lower my risk of a subsequent event.
Heart attacks in women do not present like they do in textbooks and in TV shows and movies. I am walking because I want to raise awareness that cardiac events can happen at any age and in any gender.
Please support my walk, which in turn supports the team at my healthcare center.
