My Dad is Why!
Join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
I’m not just walking. I’m HeartWalking for My Dad, friends and family who have been impacted by Heart Disease and Stroke.
My Dad had his first heart attack in 2005... When I arrived at the hospital, he was joking around with the nurses and he seemed fine. They were going to keep him for observation overnight... and I left thinking all would be well.
My dad experienced a major cardiac event that night, and by the time I returned to the hospital the next day he was on life support. A few days later, after he was stable enough to be removed from life support, he was not himself. I knew he had a stroke from what I had learned from walking for the AHA. But I could not convince the doctors... they attributed his confusion to the event, medication, age, etc.
I called on my friends at the AHA who advocated for Dad on my behalf to get him the tests he needed--and it turned out he had 3 strokes. I have been forever grateful to the AHA for stepping in and advocating for my father. I had 5 more great years with my father, which I would not have had, thanks to the AHA.
I walk for the AHA so that we are all better informed and know how to get the help and support we need, when we need it.
My participation in Heart Walk promotes educational and fun (my dad was all about fun) ways to be physically active and make healthier choices every day. Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2024. Please help me reach this lifesaving goal by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
