I walk because I know that with every step, I can help someone like my Dad. 10 months ago, we lost our Dad, our Papa, our husband, our brother , our friend. After suffering congestive heart failure, he spent time in a medically induced coma on ECMO while they gave his heart a much needed rest. It was touch and go as we waited to see if he would ever make it off the machines that were keeping him alive. My Dad, being my Dad, made it off those machines and against the odds got strong enough for his first procedure of stent placement. Once again done in hopes that he would gain enough strength to be a candidate for open heart surgery. Once that day came, he needed a quadruple bypass as his arteries were blocked at nearly 90 %. Though he didn't survive as long as we would have hoped, I am forever grateful to have been given the gift of more time. I miss him every, single day. So I am walking.....we are walking....because I know that today, tomorrow, and ten years from now......someone, somewhere will want more time. Help me give the gift of more tomorrow's. Help me honor a man who's heart was as big and caring as any I've known. I love you Dad.....I walk for you
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
