We're a relentless force! Now imagine how much stronger we'll be working as a team! Heart disease is still the no. 1 killer and stroke ranks no. 5 in our nation. We are walking together - not only for our own health, but also for yours. And for the health of our parents, our children, and our grandchildren.
This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Assocation, we will move into our second century with Bold Hearts focused on the work ahead while celebrating our lifesaving history with those who have made it possible. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
Late last August our family started what would begin to be a very difficult time for our family. Our Dad suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. To say that we were scared would not even come close to the way we felt for what we were going through. To us, our Dad is very strong, he fought fires for 30 years and was our hero. So, how could this be happening? There have been a few set backs along the way, but with the help of great Doctors at Northwestern and Shirley Ryan rehabilitation, our angel watching over him and the endless support of family and friends, he is doing better each and every day. As we reach the year mark, our family would like to help others who also have gone through what he has.
On September 21, 2023 Mike came home after being in the hospital and rehab for a month, a month away from us. Not once, was he alone between family andd friends someone was with him around the clock. He never had to feel alone and he knew how much everyone loved him. Our family could never repay those people for all the support and love they gave us and still continue to give us a year later. We are blessed with such support. So it goes without question that 1 year to the day Mike came home that we "Mike Strong" do what we can to show our support for this cause. On September 21, 2024 The American Stroke Association is teaming up with The American Heart Assocaition for a walk to raise money for this cause. We are asking you to join us on September 21, 2024 to help us support the Stroke Association and Heart Association by donating or by joinning our team and walkng with us. If you would like to walk with us, please let us know. After the walk, we will be having a gathering to celebrate Mike and to thank you all for your unconditional support. Thank you for supporting Mike Strong
