As someone who works for the American Heart Association, I’m deeply passionate about our mission to save lives. But my connection to this cause goes beyond my professional life—it’s personal.

When I was in high school, I was diagnosed with an enlarged aorta and pulmonary hypertension. It was a frightening time, but thanks to early detection and the care I received, I’ve been able to lead a full and healthy life. Not everyone is as fortunate, and that’s why I walk.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a heart attack or stroke. And 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive, often because no one nearby knows CPR. That’s something we can change.

I walk to fund lifesaving research, to train more people in CPR, and to help others get the care they need when it matters most.
