I walk because I know that with every step, I’m making a difference in someone’s life. And when combined with a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, we have an even greater impact toward curing heart disease and stroke. My brother Jimmy, AKA Francis, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2022 of a suddent cardiac event. He had been in the care of medical personnel after suffering a cardiac event a little over a year and a half before that, which resulted in a car accident. He miraculously survived, but doctors were never able to pinpoint what happened to him, nor were they able to predict if it would happen again. Continued research and investment in education will hopefully spare others the loss of a loved one so unexpectedly. While the team is named in honor of Jimmy (Francis) I also walk for all those affected by heart disease, cardiac events, and stroke - friends and family who are survivors and those who will suffer an event in the future.
