My Why?
I walk in honor of my sister, Dee Dee, who was diagnosed with Supraventricular Tachycardia in her mid-30s.
I walk in memory of my Mom, Denise, who died of a sudden heart attack at age 61.
I walk in memory of my beloved Maw-Maw, Nancie, who died of a sudden heart attack at age 65.
I walk in memory of Hope Sansbury, daughter of my best friend. Hope was born with a known heart condition requiring open heart surgery in her first week of life. The surgery was not effective and Hope required a transplant. She was one of the youngest transplant patients ever at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Her donor heart gave her parents, Tess & John, 2 beautiful years with their little girl, years they otherwise would not have had.
Heart disease touches us all. Amazing work is being done by the AHA to prevent and cure heart diseases and to extend the lives and quality of life of those with heart conditions.
