I was born 26 years ago with pulmonary valve stenosis, a thickening of my pulmonary valve. At age 1, and again at age 14, I had a surgical procedure called valvuloplasty to open my pulmonary valve. Because my procedure is relatively new and saved me from undergoing open-heart surgery twice, my family realizes how important research is in the development of new technology and treatments for heart disease and stroke! This is why our team Matthew's Mighty Marchers has been participating in the Heart Mini for 26 years and raising funds for the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.
Throughout these 26 years we have met many people who walk for their own loved ones. We have also added more names to the list of people we walk for: my grandpa, my high school bowling coach, my uncle, and other dear family friends who have suffered from various forms of heart disease.
To date our team has raised over $260,000 for the Mini!!!
Imagine what new advancements are on the horizon dependent on our donations! Many people before us have contributed to the work of the AHA. The funding provided by the AHA for research and education has saved extended and improved the quality of our loved ones' lives as well as our own.
Please take an active role by joining our team on March 17, 2024 and/or making a tax-deductible donation today.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
