Last year in April, Casey was complaining about being short of breath and we thought it was just some asthma symptoms or allergies. He was constantly having swelling in his legs and ankles with extreme fatigue. I got home from work one night and he was struggling to catch his breath in the kitchen. After talking him into going to the Urgent Care they told us to immediately go to the emergency room at Doctors West as his blood pressure was thru the roof at stroke levels. After a bunch of tests and days in the hospital, Casey was diagnosed with Heart Failure. His heart was enlarged and only beating at 60% of what it should have been. We were told that if he had not gone to the hospital when we did that he would have had a heart attack and/or stroke that night if not in the days proceeding.
We are so grateful for all the staff that helped us and recommended support groups and resources at the hospital to start making lifestyle changes to get Casey's heart to try healing itself. One of the resources they gave us was the American Heart Association. This foundation means so much to us for all the help and hope it has given us this past year.
