In 2006, my dad wasn't feeling well and thought he had the flu. He was feeling pretty terrible for a couple of weeks. When he started to look gray, my mom insisted he go to the emergency room.
After a short stay, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We were devastated, because we knew this was not something that would just go away.
What we didn't know was that, thanks to the advancements in medical care for congestive heart failure, my dad would live another 14 years. I know the American Heart Association (AHA) has played a huge role in these medical advancements.
Thanks to AHA, my dad walked me down the aisle and danced with me at my wedding.
