On May 14, 2015, I experienced a "cardiac event" that required by-pass surgery. Thanks to the excellent medical care at the Kansas Heart Hospital, the unending support of my wife, health care professionals, Dr. Kyle Tipton and Rebecca Buell, and the American Heart Association, I was able to make some life-changing decisions. Fortunately, I get to enjoy my family including my eight grandchildren.
Fast forward to November 14, 2021, I was in Garden City working a Butler football game when my left hand lost all dexterity. Then, my left leg would barely support me and my speech was slurred. Fortunately, there was an ambulance at the game, and my wife helped me across the track to get immediate attention. Teri took me to the hospital. After an MRI the next morning, it was determined that I had a stroke that impacted my cerebellum. However, due to the quick actions, the impact of this stroke on me was minimal. I was able to return to work on the following Thursday!
On January 18, 2023, I had another heart cath following a stress test. The heart cath showed a blockage. Fortunately, that was addressed with a stent and I was sent home the next day. So thankful for the miracles of modern medicine.
Finally, I'm also walking for three friends that I've lost due to heart issues. Rick Blue, Tom Erwin and Ray Vietti were great people who had their life cut short due to heart disease.
Now, I'm going to ask you to support me as I continue to "give back" so that others can enjoy the blessings of family. On June 21, I will be walking in the Wichita Heart Walk. Your support of my efforts will be greatly appreciated.
