"You are the perfect aberration of heart failure and cardiomyopathy."
Aberration meaning a characteristic that deviates from the normal type.
If you've known me my whole life, I bet you will say I've never been "normal" (ha!) but in this situation I've never been happier to hear my doctor say I am not the expected scenario for someone with HF & DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) (Based off my medical records, you would think I couldn't get out of bed... EF: 25 LVIDD: 6.8)
With this comes the reality that eventually (whether it's 5, 10, 15 years from now- who knows?) I will start developing symptoms to my disease and I will fall into the normal categoryUntil then, I will continue to THRIVE and live my best days with my family, friends and all of those I love dearly.
I would like to invite you all to walk WITH me on August 16th for the Central Ohio Heart Walk at McPherson Commons.
Although I haven't had tremendous progress on my medical charts over the last year, I am blessed with a body that allows me to perform at my best and continues to push through any setbacks. I am forever grateful for the contributions from family and friends to help towards the medical advances that have helped myself and many others with HF/DCM.
If you are not local- you can virtually join my team.
Thank you from the bottom of my (very enlarged) heart.
Pun intended. ;)
Hope to see you all there!
Love you all!
Ali
