This fundraiser is very meaningful to me because my father suffered a crippling stroke in 2016. While he healed physically, the stroke robbed him of his capacity to communicate clearly. Consider how frustrating it is to know what you want to say yet be unable to express it to others. I'm confident the American Heart Association's research and training played a role in saving my father's life, and further research may prevent the same thing from happening to others in the future.
