In December 2023, my mother unexpectedly went in for open-heart surgery. It was later stated that if her condition was not caught, it would have been terminal. Thanks to her amazing team of healthcare providers, she can live a healthy and normal life. Never did I think this would happen to my own mother; however, incidents like this occur all the time, impacting thousands and thousands of other mothers, fathers, grandparents, and more with heart disease.
For over 100 years the AHA has been actively fighting heart disease and stroke for families like mine. To further aid this cause, I have decided to participate in the Heart Walk in Central Ohio raising money and walking while benefiting the American Heart Association. I chose to walk for my mother. I chose to walk to save lives.
Without research and support from the AHA, my mother would not have been able to see me graduate!
