Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death in women, one in five women will have a stroke.
I am ONE.
My symptoms were NOT the common ones you hear about: it started with severe vertigo, then came nausea & vomiting, my balance was so off, I had to crawl and was still toppling over! I just assumed it was a fun new migraine aura symptom and the migraine would hit over the next few hours. By morning time I was incredibly weak and was taken by squad to OSU, they thought it was 'BP Induced Vertigo', hours later a Neurology resident (who recognized me as the "drink ticket girl" from our department Holiday party just a few weeks prior) came in for an exam, I couldn't follow/touch his finger with my right hand no matter how hard I tried, my right leg was weak and heavy. Things took off from there with an MRI that confirmed I had a Right Cerebellar Peduncle Stroke, the news was given to me by a Neurologist that I had been supporting since starting at OSU. The lasting impact on my life is hard to explain; I am forever grateful for my the care along the way!
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
