This year, team NCCU is walking not only to honor our stroke patients, but to honor our coworker and friend, John, who suffered cardiac arrest and STEMI, which was resolved quicky by OSU cath lab and the Ross heart hospital! Because of this life saving care, John was discharged just days later and is doing great ! The American Heart Association makes CPR education (ACLS and BLS) possible.

 

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR is not performed. But we can change this.

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. John's was saved by quick CPR action. Stories like John's can become more common by creating communities who are ready to act in the case of an emergency.
