This year, our team came together with a renewed sense of purpose—and heart.

When Joe survived his strokes caused by a hidden heart defect, it shook all of us. Watching him fight through recovery and get back to the golf course, back to cheering on his kids, and back to life reminded us just how precious time really is.

We’ve been best friends for years—more like family, really—and this experience brought us even closer. It’s why we’re walking side by side this year: Joe, Jess, Ryan, me and friends and family. For Joe. For each other. For every moment we might have missed without the breakthroughs made possible by the American Heart Association.
