I walk because I am a survivor. I've been dealing with a heart condition since I was about 7 years old. I was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease and a heart murmur. Fast forward to 2020, I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and a benign PFO (small hole in the heart). In February 2023 (Heart Health Awareness Month) I was diagnosed with an ASD (atrial septal Defect) , larger whole in the heart. I needed surgery ASAP. At 31, I went under for heart surgery to close the hole March 15, 2023. The surgery was an ASD closure. At 32, I'm here today by the grace of God but, also for my will to fight for answers and solutions. Now I stand in the gap for all other survivors still here and who may have passed away.
I know that with every step, I am saving lives.
