I'm walking in the American Heart Walk in loving memory of my father, Wesley Funches. On June 22, 2021, we lost him to his second heart attack. His first in 2015 gave us more precious time, and for that, I'm forever grateful. As a proud Daddy's girl, I walk to honor his legacy and to help ensure that other families don't experience the same heartbreak. While my father wasn't as lucky, I hope my efforts can contribute to a future where more lives are saved from the devastating effects of heart disease.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. \u200b
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. \u200b
