Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. This statement became a reality for me in 2017 when I survived a cardiac arrest. I was very fortunate that I was in the right place, at the right time, and the right people were in my path. From my family members who recognized that I was in trouble right away and activated EMS to the Electrophysiologist who reviewed my Emergency Department medical records and knew immediately what was wrong. I spent the next few days going through extensive testing, was diagnosed with a genetic heart disease which was later confirmed through genetic testing. I am humbled to be a survivor and honored to support the American Heart Association through the 2025 Heart Walk in Wayne County. I am pictured above with two of my team mates and fellow survivors, Wendy and Rick.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Please join my team, Matters of the Heart or make a donation to my team and help me support the American Heart Association.
Sincerely, Nancy
