This mission is personal.
My Grandma Stumbo survived a stroke at just 56 years old and lived the rest of her life paralyzed. All eight of her brothers died young from heart disease. Looking back, I can’t help but wonder—if she had known the signs sooner, if she had understood her risks—how different could her story have been?
That’s why I walk. And that’s why, for the past 10 years, I’ve dedicated my career to the American Heart Association as a communications and marketing director here in Kansas City. Every day, my team works to share lifesaving messages—messages that might have changed my grandma’s life. This isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. And I know if she were here today, she’d be proud.
When you support the Heart Walk, you're helping fund the research, education, and outreach that saves lives—maybe even someone you love. Thank you for walking alongside me.
